Our Mission:
The Acacia Elementary School Foundations mission is to support Acacia staff in their pursuit of excellence for our students and to enhance family engagement at the school and in the community. The Acacia Elementary School Foundation is responsible for enhancing our student opportunities concerning the All the Arts Program, STEM teacher and resources, field trips and educational assemblies, support for intervention and small group instruction, instructional materials and classroom needs, 21st Century learning, Physical Education teacher and resources, and apps on all students iPads.
The money raised by the Foundation goes directly to supporting these programs. Your 100% Tax-Deductible Donations Have Provided Necessary Funding For Valuable Programs at Our School!
Our Events
We put on 4 Fundraising events throughout each school year:
All money raised from each event goes directly to support the students of Acacia Elementary School.
Where Does the Money Go?
All the Arts: The All the Arts Program consists of 4 modules (art, music, dance and drama), each 6 weeks long, for a total of 24 weeks of instruction in all classrooms TK through 6th grade.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math): Acacia has top of the line STEM instruction and STEM tools for our students to lear with. Engineering is Elementary (TK-6) is the nation’s leading engineering curriculum for elementary school students. It involves engaging, project-based engineering activities that integrate with the instruction in life science, earth and space science, and physical science.
Support for Field Trips and Educational Assemblies: Field trips are a teacher/school driven activity. While we support field trips, the Foundation does not fully fund field trips. Each class and grade level determines, in conjunction with the school and under district policy, the different activities in which they may participate, whether field trips or on-campus assemblies.
Support for Instructional Materials and Classroom Needs: This category helps fulfill teacher requested and chosen educational items which will be purchased and available for use on the first day of classes!
Support for 21st Century Learning: Education in the United States is undergoing an overhaul with the introduction of the Common Core Standards; this, together with Fullerton School District’s emphasis on 21st Century Learning and the four C’s (collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication) brings many changes. The Foundation will support our children by continuing to contribute to the acquisition of learning tools and technologies to meet these new standards.
Support for the PE Program: The Foundation has chosen to support PE at Acacia. It’s a “win-win” for students and teachers. Teachers use the time that their class goes to PE to meet in grade level Professional Learning Communities to monitor student learning and continue to analyze and improve classroom practices; Coach Davis provides educational PE experiences helping to meet the state’s requirement for all children to participate in 200 minutes of structured physical education every two weeks.
Accelerated Reader: Accelerated Reader, with expanded version AR 360, is a motivational reading program that assesses a student’s reading level and comprehension, suggests titles of books at their particular level, and then assesses whether the student has completed and understands the content by asking a series of quiz questions.
Apps on our students iPads: Without the Foundation the students would only receive what the District pays for on our iPads. With the help of the Foundation and your support, in 2023-2024 the students will have access to over 5 apps used on a regular basis that would not otherwise be available.
Support for Intervention and Small Group Instruction: The intervention program was developed to meet the needs of students who are in need of additional support in the areas of reading and language arts. Funding helps to pay the salary of a part-time intervention teacher who works with students in small groups. While students work with the intervention teacher, the classroom teacher is able to work with a smaller group of students, addressing particular learning needs, furthering the goal of differentiated learning.
How to Support the Foundation:
We are always looking for parents to help support the Acacia Foundation. Yes, we raise money, we do fun events, we are all here to support each other and most of all support our students at Acacia Elementary School.
If you want to know where the money raised each year goes – become part of our team or just attend a meeting.
